About Fox & Hounds Riding Club

The Fox & Hounds Riding Club was started in the early 1980's - it was formed as Fox & Hounds Equestrian Club by Eddie Hubbard, Landlord of the Fox & Hounds public house in Great Moulton and his friend Colin.

By 1983 the Club had 140 members. Eddie Hubbard was President, Dave Lake was Chairman, Heather Thurgar and Liz Lake were Joint Secretaries, Nicky and Sarah Brown and David Perfitt were Riding Representatives, Colin Pyke was Driving Representative and Jean Musk was Driving Secretary.

Early drives were mainly from the Fox & Hounds public house and the early gymkhanas were then held there, having previously been held at Dale Farm, Aslacton. In the very early days before the club's formation, sponsored rides were held and the Club had its own small cross country. David Perfitt then allowed the Club to build a cross country course on his land behind Coronation Hall.

In 1994 the Club split and became seperate Riding and Driving Clubs. Jill Harvey then guided the Riding Club to be the success it has since become.

Today the Club holds regular Showjumping shows at Church Farm, Aslacton and also stages a Spring Show and a Hunter Trial each year. In recent years, Dressage Days have been staged both in the summer months and in January & February.

The Club has an elected Committee who hold regular meetings throughout the year to administer all of the Club's affairs. Heather Thurgar is the longest standing Committee member, having been on the Committee since the Club's inception and Norman Pendleton, Honorary Life President joined in 1985.
